This is the Easiest Hot Chocolate You’ll Ever Make
As we collectively trudge through the terribly short and cold winter days, we all crave a bit of a pick me up – especially something warm and comforting.
The answer?
Hot chocolate, of course!
Now, before you go hunting for that expired tin of Cadbury instant hot chocolate, I’d like to convince you to make your own.
Especially since this version is so easy to make and uses stuff that you’ll probably already have in your cupboards – next to that old tin of Cadbury.
I’ve been making and adapting this recipe for years, and I think I’ve found the perfect balance of rich – but not too rich – and sweet – but not too sweet – if you catch my drift.
ingredients
All you’ll need is some milk, a little bit of sugar, a spoonful of Nutella, and some cocoa powder.
Which milk should I use?
I’m yet to test this recipe with alternative milks, but you can use any kind of cow’s milk, depending on how rich you like your brew. I always opt for semi-skimmed for a happy medium, but you can also use skimmed for a lighter version, or whole milk for a creamier consistency – the choice is completely yours!
How sweet is this hot chocolate?
Everybody has their own preference, but I really love how flexible this recipe is. You could leave out the sugar completely if you want the Nutella to shine through, or increase to a teaspoon (or more) if you have a sweet tooth.
method
If I haven’t yet sold this recipe to you completely, then let it be on how easy it is to assemble. Just chuck it all in a saucepan, whisk over a medium heat until combined and hot, pour into small mugs, top with marshmallows, and ditch the instant powder for good!
and don’t forget to stir:
